Lerrik's Ghost

Lerriks Ghost

Description:

My Dearest Lerrik,

You will wake to find this letter on your pillow in my place. Then you will know what I have done. You will know instantly that I have gone to kill the corrupt one. I beg for your forgiveness and for your understanding. I have betrayed your trust, and no matter the outcome of this morning's trial, I will forever be haunted by regret. I wish that things could have been different and that I did not have to do this. I know that you pleaded with me to let another handle this, but I cannot. I may be the only hope, for I am the only one that can go in unseen and unheard.

I glance over at you now, while I write this. Your blond curls are sprawled over your pillow, and the beauty of you is paralyzing. You sleep, so at peace in your dreams. Not at all like the fitful nights of old. I hope that I gave you some of that peace, my love. I can imagine the pain in your blue, blue eyes, and the thought nearly makes me toss this letter into the fire and crawl back into the warmth of your arms where I always feel so safe. But the truth is that we are not safe. None of us. Jahyel threatens our entire realm. Like you once said to me... "this is bigger than you, bigger than me." At one time that would not have mattered to me. I cared for no one, especially not my own people. Little did I know how the cloaked figure, to whose neck I held my sharpest dagger, would change my life. But looking back now, I believe that I was lost from the moment that I tore that hood from your face.

I thank you, my golden prince, for all that you have given me. Thank you for being able to take a ghost into your heart. Do not blame Rainth for this and most of all, do not blame yourself. I know how you love to make everything your fault. This was my choice, and mine alone. I'm sorry to make this sound so final, but this is the greatest challenge of my life. This is either the bravest or most foolish thing that I have ever done. Don't worry; I am leaning toward foolish as well. But in case of the worst, I had to let you know, I love you. My whole life, I have loved only you. Farewell, my Morning Light. May you shine for me as brightly as ever this dawn.

Forever your White Rose,
Elekcis

-------------

My characters Jahyel and Elekcis. How he is holding on to the end of Elekcis' cape is really to symbolize how close he is to her without her knowledge. And the story behind this is that Jahyel kept growing stronger and learned the full extent of which he can use his power. He began to wreak havok on Faerie even from the outside. His assassination was once again ordered, and the task fell upon Elekcis. Lerrik made her promise not to go, that it would be too dangerous. But against the wise caution of Lerrik, she went anyway.
